Ajax celebrates 75 Year Anniversary
at MACH with new turning line 2016

MACH is the outstanding showcase for advances in the manufacturing industry brought to you by the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA), a UK based trade association dealing specifically with engineering based manufacturing. It is a biennial exhibition which brings together all the best innovations and latest developments to come from the manufacturing technologies sectors under one roof.

Ajax Machine Tools introduced its exciting line of Evolution 3 lathes at MACH 2016. The line of Evolution lathes were shown alongside Ajax's popular milling line, the AJV550 machining centre, and the Interactive CNC milling machine appear alongside the turning line.

Starting at just £19,950 as a special birthday price for 2016, the Ajax Evolution 3 Series is extremely flexible as it incorporates all the virtues of conventional turning, electronic cycle turning and full CNC turning; all in one machine. For the manual machinist, the Evolution offers electronic hand-wheels for turning with the control acting as a simple DRO measuring system. The Evolution can also be programmed via flexible electronic turning cycles that are well suited to small batch production.

Either scenario is fast and efficient, as the operator doesn't need to be CNC trained to use the electronic cycles. In just a few simple steps, the operator can produce multi-point profiles, tapers, radii, grooving and screw-cutting.

All this can be conducted by following a few easy steps on the intuitive Fanuc control screen. Furthermore, these short cycles can be linked together to give a complete electronic programme. For the more seasoned machinist producing complicated shapes and larger batch production, the Evolution offers full ISO programming on the Fanuc 0i Turn Mate control.

AT MACH, Ajax exhibited the smallest machine in the range on its stand, the AJEV180 model. The Evolution AJEV180 provides an optional distance between centres of either 750mm or 1m with a 180mm centre height and 360mm swing over bed. However, the Evolution line is offered with a wide variety of dimensions and optional features to meet the demands of any modern machine shop.

Across the six model variants in the Evolution Series, Ajax can provide lathes with a swing over bed from 360mm to over 1m and a distance between centres from 750mm to over 5m. To guarantee optimal machining over this diverse range, the Ajax Evolution is supplied with a spindle bore from 42 to 230mm, spindle motors from 7.5kW to 22kW and bed widths from 250 to 500mm, depending upon the model selected. This ensures that every Ajax customer receives a robust, rigid and precise package that combines high performance within a cost effective package.

The Ajax Evolution machines include fully enclosed guarding, CE marking, automatic 8 station tool turret, automatic speed range change and a new Fanuc touch screen control and monitor on a sliding pendant. All of this is supplied with an 18 month warranty and the peace of mind that the Evolution line is serviced and maintained in the UK by British engineers.

Of course, Ajax has much more in its armoury than just the Evolution line, so if you want to discuss possible solutions for your complete machine tool needs, view website:
